Ingmar Bergman’s second feature film (after Crisis), is an artistically mature drama of young love, with a tragic background. The young couple Maggi and David meet by coincidence at a railway station, and fall in love. She is a bit lost, and he just released from prison. They are united in their mutual rough background and are now trying to create a life together in a little cabin. There are many obstacles on the way, and they find they can’t trust their fellow human beings.
