Five more festival successes from the catalogue of THE MATCH FACTORY

With immediate effect digital cinemas all over Europe can order five more festival successes from the catalogue of worldwide distributor THE MATCH FACTORY.

Two films by repeated Berlin Film Festival winner Christian Petzold are now also part of the Europe’s Finest catalogue: JERICHOW is a ménage à trois between Thomas, who has just returned from the war in Afghanistan, Ali, owner of a snack stall, and his wife Laura. The film was shown in the competition at the Venice Film Festival and received the Preis der Deutschen Filmkritik (German Film Critics Association Award). In YELLA a woman starts a new life after a failed marriage – but soon this is just too good to be true. Leading actress Nina Hoss was awarded the Silver Bear at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival.

With the comedy LA VIE DE BOHÈME, in which Aki Kaurismäki brings together three bohemians in Paris, the number of films by the Finnish director in the catalogue of Europe’s Finest has now gone up to four. Europe’s Finest is already the distributor for ARIEL, THE MATCH FACTORY GIRL and SHADOWS IN PARADISE.

Claudia Llosa's Spanish-Peruvian co-production MADEINUSA received more than 15 awards at international festivals, among them the FIPRESCI prize of the 2006 Rotterdam Film Festival. The jury was impressed by the story of the Peruvian girl whose life in a mountain village is turned upside down by a new arrival.

The film THE UNPOLISHED, by director Pia Marais, was awarded among others The Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival. THE UNPOLISHED shows how a young girl has to find her way in the physically and emotionally destructive adult world. A powerful, sensitive confession of a derailed society in which the child/parent roles have been washed away.
